Cookies and Milk. A childhood all-time favorite. An after school snack. A comfort food with fond memories. The ultimate in food dunking.

My favorite cookie memory is Girl-scout related. We would freeze the thin-mints and then I would make little peanut-butter sandwiches with them. So yummy!

When I was a little girl my dad and I would eat oatmeal raisin cookies with milk every night. It was our after dinner ritual. We would catch up on the day and spend some precious father-daughter bonding time.

My favorite cookie ever is my Gram’s “congo squares” (chocolate chip cookie squares). I loved helping her bake them – and eat them together, she was old school and didn’t have a recipe written down or measure anything. They were always delicious and no one in my family can make them the same.

I LOVE(D) oreos. They were my favorite, addictive cookie. My favorite ice cream? Oreo/cookies and cream of course- for as long as I can remember.
My best friend since we were about 6 (we’re still best friends) and I used to eat ice cream all the time together; her with her cookie dough ice cream and me with my cookies and cream. But more recently I’ve been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as well as gluten and dairy intolerances. This has significantly cut back on my cookies and cream ice cream consumption (as you can imagine) and I’ve yet to find a GF/DF cookies and cream ice cream. As the writer of this post said earlier, mashing these GF/DF cookies up and cold stone creamery-style mixing it with some of your own ice cram of choice sounds like a GREAT idea. My favorite DF ice cream, TEMPT hemp milk Ice cream (BY FAR THE BEST DF ICE CREAM OUT THERE), would go amazingly well with this cookie. With these two delicious products I could once again wrap myself in a blanket with my best friend and giggle the night away like old times.

Baking cookies with my grandmother. They were date and nut filled cookies. I don’t even have the recipe. I wish I could make them again. I wish as a child I would have thought to ask her for it. I was given an old Miracle Whip jar when she passed away with all of her cookie cutters in it. I am so thankful they were given to me. It is a memory I hold very dear.

A Weight Watchers member always took a bubble bath and snuck in Oreo type cookies to eat on the evening her husband bowled. One evening she was in her bath relaxing and snacking when her husband walked in the front door and yelled that he didn’t have to bowl that evening. She grabbed the package of cookies and put them under water to hide them. When he walked in the cookies started surfacing to the top of the water! So much for cheating! This story was told to us by the leader of a Weight Watchers group.

When I ws a young mother of three, we would bake Christmas cookies about three weeks before the actual holiday. My 2 boys and 1 girl helped as we rolled the dough for the sandtards. We used an old recipe from the kids great-grandmother and had the best of times. Of course flour and sugar were everywhere, and, now I know why I never really felt good eating them or baking them. But it gave me memories of times gone by, when they were young and life was much simpler. Thanks Bee Free for Me, for the opportunity to express this memory and for bringing it back to me.

My favorite cookie memory is watching my grandmother bake her famous chocolate chip pecan cookies. She always had a jar on her kitchen table and they were divine.
She’s been gone now for 20 years, but I can still taste and smell those cookies. No matter how hard anyone tries to make her recipe, which has been handed down, they just aren’t as good as the original!

My favorite cookie memory was when I was little, I baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies with my friend Taylor, and he accidently poured 3x’s as much baking soda into the cookies than the recipe called for. They turned out tasting a little funny, but I had a blast making them with him.

My Grandma would always have a new batch of chocolate chip cookies ready for us
grandkids in the refrigerator in a tin. When we would visit her, we would run into the house, give her a hug,
and go right for the cookies! Grandma made the perfect cookie and I’m sure the secret ingredient was love.

When my teenagers were little and we would make holiday cookies they would each take some of the flour and put it all over their faces! I have a photo of them every year with flour everywhere! It was a lot of fun and now when they look back they remember how crazy it was too! Lot’s of flour on the floor to clean up but lots more fun and memories.

How do you pick one? I’d have to say when my Mom would purchase Cadbury Lady Fingers…oh, those were heavenly…I know they still have them, but I think I enjoyed them more back then because my Mom would give me some in moderation…as an adult I was allowed to eat the whole box. lol

I love to make cookies, and I’m sure it was from baking with my mom. Now I am a mom and I enjoy having my kids bake with me. We make an Oreo truffle with cream cheese and chocolate. They have the best time with the gooey dough rolling it into balls. Of course all the truffles don’t even make it to the chocolate; somehow they start to disappear. I couldn’t guess where they went. HMMM could the chocolate all over their face be a clue? They love splashing the chocolate all over the cookies to make them look pretty. Everyone asks for the recipe.
My10 year old son was just diagnosed last week with Celiac, so I’ve been struggling to find him things to eat; being a newbee at this. I was so glad to find Kinnikinnick Kinni-Toos Cream Filled Cookies” so we can continue making our truffles.

One of my favorite cookie memoires was decorating cookies with my grandmother at Christmas time. The cookies weren’t necessarily homemade, but she bought stuff to decorate in every color imagineable, and my cousins joined us as well. On Christmas day, all of our decorated cookies were on display for the whle family to eat, and we could proudly say, I decorated that one! Years later, I was able to do the same thing with my nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. It was a great way to carry on the tradition.

Cookies evoke such good memories! Which one to share? On a warm afternoon my cousin and I would lay upside down on a hill eating oreos and cloud watch. (When you are seven you can lay upside down and eat anything!) Can’t eat oreos any more, but KiniToos are wonderful.

A favorite memory involves snickerdoodles. I loved to roll the cookie balls in the cinnamon sugar when I was a kid. When we had to bring a favorite recipe to make a cookbook, my recipe was for snickerdoodles.

My favorite cookie memory is of making gingerbread man cookies and decorating them up the first year my kids were gfcf. They were delighted. We took them to a neighboorhood night before the night before Christmas party and all the neighbors gobbled them up too! The kids loved sharing their special food and nobody could believe the cookies were gluten and dairy free!

My daughter and I have recently been diagnosed with Celiac, my daughter only being 7 years old took the news very hard and said”her life was over”. Her favorite chocolate bar is Hersheys Cookies n” creme so to help her realize that there are things you can do to have almost the same product I purchased a package of the gluten free oreo cookies, a chocolate mold and some white chocolate. I melted the white chocoloate mixed in some broken cookie, put them in the molds then in the fridge to harden for 15 minutes. When they were hard I surprised my daughter with these gluten free cookies n’ creme chocolate bars made from home. When she tried them she couldn’t even tell the difference. The smile on her face and the joy she had was overwhelming. I now make these on a regular basis and the whole family enjoys them just as much as my daughter does!

Two. First, making christmas cookies as a kid. We had a big family and everyone was involved with both making and decorating. Fun and crazy. My Mom must have wished for peace and quiet but we so enjoyed it. Second, Chocolate Oatmeal no bake cookies that had the recipe on Hershey’s cocoa or the oatmeal box. Can’t remember which. At one point I think all of us had that recipe memorized. Quick, easy, delicious…. Those were the days.

I remember baking cookies with my mom at Christmas-all the different kinds of cookies and the smells throughout the house! I did love these cherry cookies with a rich chocolate icing-I actually still make them with my own flours and have mastered the taste so that I can still remember the taste and wonderfulness of the cookie! I now do the baking with my daughter and soon to be daughter in law-new memories are being made!

I remember my grandmothers “filled” cookies at Xmas. They were large and round, made of a tender sugar cookie dough and filled with apricot jam. No cute cutout on the top. Just simple, terribly delicous and very old fashioned. I also remember her basement root cellar and outdoor porch filled with a month’s worth of baking in festive tins of all sizes, when we arrived from afar at Xmas time. We got to hunt through the treasure trove whenever we wanted a snack 🙂

Even though my 5 year old son does not like sweets (unlike his Momma!) he loves to help me out when I am making cookies. He loves to help measure, pour and stir. I love that even though he has no intention of eating them, he wants to help each time!

My mom used to make TollHouse chocolate chip cookies that were so good and give them away for Christmas. I learned how to cook starting with these cookies. Now we are gluten free and dairy free so I have to get a little more creative to create this same memory for my kiddos.
