WIN-It-Wednesday: Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery

Don’t you just love it when you find really, really, really, good gluten-free foods?

If you’re like me, when you discover such a “find” you want to tell the world, shout it from your blogspot, dream about it and secretly scheme about your next encounter.

Rudi’s Gluten-Free Breads had me at the first bite. After that bite I was dreaming about French toast, grilled cheese, BLT’s, even the basic peanut butter & jelly. All simple foods to most, but a true delicacy to me.

What I love the most about Rudi’s Bakery is that they make tons of delicious gluten-free breads (including original, multi-grain and cinnamon raisin), pizza crusts and… drumroll please… their new multigrain gluten free hamburger rolls and hotdog rolls!

Funny how your life changes. How something as simple as a slice of bread, or a single hotdog roll, can have you singing from the highest mountaintop.

This Memorial Day weekend is the official kick-off of summer, the official grill time. And this Memorial Day will be, well …quite memorable for celiacs everywhere because of these new Rudi’s buns!

No more eating a plain hamburger or hotdog “No roll, please” style. No more envying others when they bite into a big, fat juicy burger. And let’s face it, hotdogs are just plain old b-o-r-i-n-g and not any fun at all without a roll.

Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, I am so thrilled that Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery will be sponsoring the next two week’s Win-it-Wednesday’s on BeFreeForMe.com!
A total of FOUR (Yes… 4!) BeFreeForMe members will be selected to win a gift pack of Rudi’s Gluten-Free Breads & Rolls. Two winners will be randomly selected from the entries received before Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 at 11:59 PM EST, and two more winners will be randomly selected to win from the entries received between Wednesday, June 1st and Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11:59PM. SO – make sure you enter to win two times!

How can you WIN?
EASY!

Reply to this blog and tell me your favorite way to dress up a hotdog or hamburger (or veggie burger, etc.) that is placed on a gluten-free roll. (Me? Canadian Bacon, BBQ Sauce & Cheddar on my hamburger, please!)

Good luck, roll out the good times this Memorial Day weekend…and as always,
Be Free!

P.S. Also, make sure you check out the recipe contest that Rudi’s is holding on their Facebook page and vote for your favorite! Also, if you have submitted a recipe in this contest, PLEASE let us know which one is yours so we can check it out!

  45. jess Says:

I’m kind of a classic girl- for a hot dog, I want lots of really good kraut (Bubbes or Hawthorne Valley lacto-fermented sauerkraut) and good mustard. Delicious.

  46. Kathleen Reale Says:

Red Onion Jam… YUM! Yet another great topping idea!

  47. Holly Says:

  54. HeatherL Says:

I can’t wait until these are at my local gf store! At the top of the food rules list: no ketchup. ever.

    Fave hot dog toppings?
Chili, shredded cheddar & diced onion OR sauerkraut & mustard with a dill on the side. mmmm…..equally delicious in my book.

    {If you’re experiencing a flashback to Harry Met Sally, I assure you, you are not the first. 😉 my poor husband.}

Hamburger? Pretty traditional bacon, sharp cheddar, onion, pickle, tomato & lettuce, maybe a little mustard or aioli. Hot off the weber grill, baby….yummy!

I’ve been making a salad of my toppings & cutting up pieces of hamburger with a knife & fork—so sad.

We have several other food restrictions besides gluten, so the best way for us to dress up a burger on a gluten-free bun is GF ketchup.

  60. Anna Says:

Swedish Hotdog cart style. Growing up spending yearly vacations in Sweden, as that is where my family is from. My all time comfort hot dog on a bun is topped with mashed potatoes, ketchup and mustard. It is a classic Swedish Street Cart hot dog.

  61. Jennifer Bussey Says:

Hot dogs are simple, just plain old yellow mustard for my son, but for me it is the bad breath load, yellow mustard, onions, pickles and sour kraut. For burgers I like it like a mcD’s quarter pounder, Daiya cheese(I am dairy and soy free), mustard, ketchup, pickles and onions.

  62. Cindy Newman Says:

I’m old school. Spicy mustard and a little relish. I buy really good organic hot dogs. Why cover up the wonderful spicy flavors??!!

  64. Jess R Says:

Lettuce, tomato, bbq sauce and grilled onions!

  65. Michelle Says:

Good thing we have good grilling weather today, I’ve got tonight’s dinner now!

  66. Lauren Says:

My hotdog must have yellow mustard with a sprinkling of white onions..my hamburger must have gruyere cheese with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle..mustard and ketchup or ketchup and mayo sauce..unless of course I’m going vegetarian and having a portobello mushroom burger, then it’s teriyaki sauce, onion and lettuce..maybe some cheese..yum..I think I know what is for dinner!

On my hamburger, mayo,a thick slice of cheddar, and 2 very thin slices of tomato!

  72. Kate Says:

My favorite hotdog is a Coney (hotdog topped with all meat chili, yellow mustard and tons of onions!) Can’t beat it. In a gluten-free bun, it feels like childhood again. As for a burger, I love to go healthy. I top a a grilled patty with roasted red pepper and roasted onion melted under provolone. On the bottom bun, I like to take some roasted cloves of garlic and mash them into a spread, mix it with some goat cheese and smear it on the bottom bun. On the top bun, a smear of hummus and finish it off with a healthy bit of fresh baby spinach!

If I am going for a more traditional burger, I like dill pickles, american cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayo with romaine lettuce and topped off with a fried egg! Amazing!

Hawaiin Style! Teriyaki sauce and pineapple make it so delicious! Cheese is good too but I’ve had to omit that due to a milk allergy. Avocado is a good alternative though!

  83. Mabelle Says:

I like my hamburger with cheese, guacamole, mayonnaise mixed with mustard, and cabbage. Hot dogs with relish dipped in mustard or sometimes with just a slice of cheese, wrapped in corn tortillas. For me, it isn’t about what is on the hamburger (which I like to keep simple) but about how the hamburger is made. Ground beef mixed with sweet Italian sausage and homemade spice similar to Emeril’s Essence is the only burger for me. I love how the juices from that burger mix with ketchup and mustard on the bun.
